Evaluation Question 7

So far i have learnt that there is more to do with a film than just recording it. There are many things which need to be done before the actual recording of the thriller can . There in many paper work involved like the contingency plan,  thew shot list, the production schedule location visit sheet etc. Also the view of the audience is very important, because it's the audience that will watch the film. But I still need to continue working about using the software that I have to the best of my ability, for an example I still do not not know as much as i could about Final cut, this could lead to my grad being better next time.

Evaluation Question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product ?

Our movies target audience to teenagers. Our movie would appeal to teenagers because it's the teenagers who like fast pace action. From our research, we found out that most people would like fast pacing action to be in our thriller.

We think that the gender which would like our thriller is the male gender. This is because the film is very masculine. This is also because all the characters in the thriller are male. There are no female characters. Two of the characters are business men. This would make the thriller appeal to males because most males aspire to become business men. On the other hand, this thriller might appeal to females as well. This is because the might feel that the characters are very attractive so they might see them as something like eye candy.

Although our thriller might have the target audience of teenagers, we could also have a target audience of adults. This is because we have many of the classic thriller conventions. Therefore adults may be familiar with them. For an example, we used the a cliff hanger similar to the cliffhangers in Hitchcocks thrillers. As a result of this, this could lead to many adults wanting to watch the thriller due to their familiarity of the conventions.

Evaluation Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your Media product and why?

There are five different types of ways to distribute media. Through film studios, Television, The Web and DVD.

If we distribute the product through film studios, it would go into one of the three categories:
- Major
-Mini major
-Independent

Examples of majors are Columbia Pictures, Universal Studios, Warner Bros,  Walt Disney Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Paramount Pictures

Examples of mini majors are Dreamworks, Lions Gate Films and Relatively Media. This the second class in film studios. They also take the second highest part of the film industry.
We could also distribute through television. Some examples of this are Film 4 and BBC. Normally, films which are televised are to help up coming directors in indepentent companies. And sometimes, these channels also help promote films after there DVD release.

Another way of us distributing it is through the web. This is where anyone can put their movie on without any charge. They could also put it on the internet just for fun, or even just to show off their skills. Examples are YouTube, Facebook, Myspace and Twitter.

Evaluation Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

One thriller convention is that thrillers create a sense of suspense and tension. They would do this by the type of shot used, the music, lighting etc. One example of this is in Harry Potter. From this extract we can infer that both the lighting and the music create tension for the audience, by the lighting being very dark and the musics tempo increasing as the soldiers were jumping to the ground. In my groups thriller, we used music and certain types of shots to also create tension. When used a pan shot to create the tension when the business man realised he has lost the bag. we also used fast tempo music to also create tension when the business man is chasing the man who has the bag.

Another thriller convention is that in thrillers, normally there is a protagonist who is dis empowered. Most thrillers normally have a protagonist against an antagonist. At some point both characters will eventually meet. This will be when the action starts to happen. One example of this is in skyfall. This extract shows Javier Bardem (the antagonist), getting closer and closer the murdering someone and bond (the protagonist) trying to catch up to him and will soon meet up and spark the violence. In our thriller we also had an protagonist and an antagonist. The antagonist was the the business man chasing the man with the bag and the antagonist was the man with the bag being chased.

We used conventions of thrillers instead of copying the conventions. This was because in our questionnaire, people said that said that they like things like fast pace action, and red herrings etc so we wanted to give the audience exactly what they wanted, not trying to tweak it because this could have lead to the audience disliking it.

Thanks spicy nodes for messing up part of my Evaluation

As I was on spicy nodes today for part of the production of part of my evaluation, all of a sudden my work was gone. Right now I'm very annoyed at the moment because this is not a joke. I'm not even playing games.  I will probably be filing a complaint to spicy nodes for this joke they think they can pull on me. My pc wasn't even slow at all.

First Attempt for the thriller

This was the first time we started filming for our thriller. After watching this back, we've realised that the camera was too shaky. This is because the tripod was not used enough. As a result of this, we did  these scenes again while using a tripod through out the whole thing.

Our thriller Ident

Recently, we have finished making our own title Ident for are thriller. A lot of the choices we had for the handwriting of the Ident were not related in any way or form to the name of our Ident or even the actual thriller. But eventually we found a suitable type of font for the Ident.

Studio Idents

                                                            Studio Idents

All of these Studio Idents have an image that shows power. For an example the columbia records shows a woman of power or maybe even a goddess. Universal shows the earth, this obviously symbolised power around the world. Some of these studio idents have evolved over time. Some studio idents have been soled to other companies or have started as indies and are now majors. But some have also been majors and have turned to indies.
